DURYEA
Partner
John is a founding partner of Blue Road. Prior to Blue Road, John was the portfolio manager for Ospraie Special Opportunities, a fund launched in February 2006 focusing on less liquid investment opportunities across basic industries and commodities. Prior to joining Ospraie in September 2005, John was an original member and Managing Director at Ripplewood Holdings. John began his professional career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as a founding member of the formalized merchant banking efforts in Private Equity, Distressed Debt and Venture Capital.
John received a B.A. from Yale University.
LUIS
PAZ-GALINDO
Partner
Luis is a founding partner of Blue Road. Prior to Blue Road, Luis worked for the Ospraie Special Opportunities Fund leading investments in the energy, infrastructure and commodity industries. Prior to joining Ospraie in July 2006, Luis spent six years with J.P. Morgan Partners (the private equity arm of J.P. Morgan Chase), four years in Brazil focusing on investment opportunities in the Southern Cone and the last two years in New York, focusing primarily on energy opportunities. Before joining J.P. Morgan Partners, Luis spent one year with J.P. Morgan’s Latin America M&A group in New York.
Luis received a B.A. in Philosophy and Engineering Sciences and a Bachelor’s of Engineering from Dartmouth College. He also received a Master’s in Technology and Policy and a Ph.D. in Energy Economics from MIT.
DAVID
BLUE
Partner
David is a founding partner of Blue Road. Prior to Blue Road, David was the General Counsel and member of the investment team of the Ospraie Special Opportunities Fund, where David was involved in all aspects of the investment process as well as the monitoring of portfolio companies. David served as an associate general counsel at Millennium Partners LP from 2006-2007. From 2005-2006, he was a senior counsel at Fulbright & Jaworski LLP. Prior to that, he was a corporate associate at Latham & Watkins in the private equity group.
David received a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.S. in Accounting from St. John’s University. He has passed the Certified Public Accountant exam as well as the Series 7 and 63 exams.
CLIFFORD
LEUNG
Vice President
Cliff joined Blue Road in 2017 and is currently a Vice President on the investment team. Prior to Blue Road, Cliff worked at Sumitomo Corporation of Americas in investment and strategy and before that at Nomura Securities in investment banking.
Cliff received a B.S. in Finance from New York University.
GRAY
SCOTT
Vice President
Gray joined Blue Road in 2019 and is currently a Vice President on the investment team. Prior to joining Blue Road, Gray worked at Deutsche Bank in the investment banking division as an Analyst in the Industrials Group, covering industrials and natural resources companies.
Gray received a B.A. in Government with a minor in Economic Public Policy from Dartmouth College.
NICOLAS
DE ACHAVAL
Vice President
Nicolas joined Blue Road in 2021 and is currently a Vice President on the investment team. Prior to Blue Road, Nicolas worked in investment banking at Citigroup, where he focused on merger and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and various debt and equity financing activities.
Nicolas received a B.S. in Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires in Argentina.
ROBERT
LAROCCA
Senior Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer & Director of ESG
Rob joined Blue Road in 2018 to serve as its Senior Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Director of ESG. Prior to Blue Road, Rob worked in the legal and compliance group at ParkRiver Fund Solutions and previously held positions at Owl Creek Asset Management, Deutsche Bank, and JP Morgan.
Rob received a B.A. from Boston College and a J.D. from Villanova Law School.
DEANA
PEREZ
Office Manager & Executive Assistant
Deana joined Blue Road in 2019 as Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the Partners. Before joining the team, Deana was most recently working directly for the Chairman of Radiology and Imaging at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Deana received a B.F.A. in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She also received a Masters of Business Administration from Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business.
WILLIAM
BERKE
Controller
Will joined Blue Road in 2022 and currently serves as the Controller. Prior to Blue Road, Will was employed by Luxor Capital Group, a New York based hedge fund. Will started his career in the Wealth and Asset Management Practice at Ernst & Young, where he was responsible for financial statement audits of private equity funds and hedge funds.
Will received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.
